Family Owned and Operated for Over 25 years

Standard IPM Contract

Dear, Client

Thank you for the opportunity to discuss how EnviroSafe can serve your pest control needs. EnviroSafe is a family-owned business that has been helping schools meet their pest and turf management needs since 1999.

EnviroSafe currently serves 88 school districts throughout Michigan with our unique IPM program, which was recognized in 2009 with the International Excellence Award from the International IPM Symposium.

The benefits of this program and what is included:

Commitment to compliance: Our program is fully compliant with Public Act 451, Part 83, and Regulation 637. Following an initial interior and exterior inspection, we provide a site-specific IPM plan for each building that is well-organized and easy to use.

Online file system: Our program features a Google Drive file system that we manage to ensure you remain in compliance with State of Michigan regulations. This system gives you access to your records anytime, anywhere.

Emphasis on education: We help staff understand the need for IPM and how EnviroSafe will work with them to solve pest problems using non-pesticide alternatives. Our program begins with a comprehensive staff training session and an electronic program that is provided for each building. Additionally, monthly communication for various pest issues helps staff continue their education.

Routine visits and flexible scheduling: We provide monthly visits with one of our state-certified technicians, plus additional visits as needed at no additional charge. During these visits, we will meet with the district’s designated contact person or IPM coordinator. This person will give us a report on which buildings we will need to go to for that month. Please understand that not all buildings will have issues every month. By doing this, we can spend more time in the problem areas, which helps ensure a resolution. We are happy to work with your schedule when a pest problem arises, minimizing service interruptions for students, parents, and staff. In the event of emergency pest concerns, we can respond with an on-site visit within 24 hours.

Least-toxic, last-resort philosophy:  Pesticides do not have to be the first step in problem solving. We use least-toxic pesticides when necessary, only as a last resort, and we never use restricted-use pesticides or volatile synthetic pesticides such as organophosphates, carbamates, and pyrethroids. Should pesticides requiring notification ever need to be applied, EnviroSafe will complete parent notification on your behalf and at no extra charge. We will also provide the district with the proper door posting for such applications.

Recognized approach: Our program has been reviewed and approved by the State of Michigan, and the IPM Institute of North America has recognized us with full GreenShield Certification. We are the only provider in the State with these distinctions.

Monthly Run Structure: The contract price is based on 12 monthly visits. The following is a summary of actions that will take place on those visits.

  • One week before the visit day, a reminder email will be sent to the point of contact.
  • On the day of the visit, we will contact the point of contact via phone.
  • Any rechecks or open work orders will be serviced on this scheduled visit.
  • If the point of contact cannot be reached or no work orders are submitted, we will check in with the buildings at our discretion.
  • Any records or reports will be completed on-site and submitted to the point of contact and any pertinent staff.

Call In (off run) Structure:

  • When possible, work orders will be held for processing on the monthly visit.
  • Exceptions will be made for emergencies (stinging insects), flying insects (ants, termites), mice in kitchens, roaches in kitchens, and certain bed bug issues.
  • In exceptional situations, the monthly visit will be rescheduled, or an extra visit will be scheduled. This visit will be determined through direct communication with the point of contact.

Pre and Post Visit Expectations:

  • Areas/Rooms that need attention should be clearly communicated using a description, a map, or a picture (including the door or room number and distinctive features).
  • Rooms where work orders are submitted are expected to be accessible, or district staff will be available to assist with access.
  • The initial steps should have been completed per the IPM training: the room should have been cleaned, traps set, and food issues/sources addressed.
  • Any maintenance issues outlined in the inspection report are expected to be addressed promptly.
  • This set of rules allows issues to be addressed efficiently, with limited pesticide use and with a fixed, long-term solution.

Emergency definition: The State of Michigan defines a pest emergency as a pest capable of causing immediate bodily harm. By this definition, an emergency, for notification purposes, will apply only to stinging insects.
